When Nature Becomes the Heart of Your Living Room
For many apartments, the terrace is its soul. But there are homes that are literally built around the terrace. In our latest residential project, through the Beluga Garden concept, we have redefined the very meaning of “connection to nature.” Here, the greenery doesn’t stop at the property line; it flows from the park, through the terrace, right into the center of your living room.
The modern city dweller spends a significant portion of their life in enclosed spaces: offices, cars, and corridors. While technology provides every comfort, it remains incapable of replacing one thing: the instinctive connection we share with nature. Psychology refers to this as “biophilia” the innate human attraction to living systems. It is no coincidence that a walk in the park after a grueling day instantly lowers our stress levels.
Why is “Green Proximity” Essential Indoors?
The sight and nearness of nature measurably improve mental health, boost creativity, and aid in regeneration. When we invite nature into a home, we are making more than just an aesthetic choice. The presence of green spaces within the living environment regulates the microclimate, naturally filters dust, and helps maintain ideal humidity levels.
In an urban setting, however, green space is a treasure. In densely built-up neighborhoods, apartments are often dim, and the view is limited to the walls of the building opposite. This is where traditional architecture diverges from conscious real estate development. True luxury today lies in space, light, and the ability to drink our morning coffee as if we were sitting at the edge of a forest, while having all the advantages of the city within arm’s reach.
The Wisdom of Inner Courtyards and Terraces
Throughout the history of architecture, inner gardens known as atriums have always been islands of tranquility. These spaces teach us functionally as well: they encourage us to slow down. This is the zone where the security of our inner world meets the freedom of the outdoors.
When the terrace and the living room form a single unit, the apartment begins to breathe. We have translated this philosophy into practice in Idom’s latest project. The essence of the Beluga Garden concept is precisely this interconnected ecosystem. We aren’t just adding a separate garden to the apartment; we are providing an architectural form that “pulls” the adjacent parkland right into the rooms.
How Can Nature Become Part of Interior Design?
True harmony is achieved when the view is layered. This visual continuity expands the space and provides that sense of freedom that is so difficult to find in the city. Our goal is for residents to be part of the environment’s changes in every season from the budding leaves of spring to the winter frost all without ever leaving the comfort of their living room.
This style is for those who understand that our home does not end at the front door, and for whom quality of life is fundamentally defined by the constant, soothing presence of light, air, and nature.
